Description
PARQUET VARNISH AQUA is a one or two component (with hardener) waterbased polyurethane varnish suitable for wood parquet flooring. It is easily applied and cures to a beautiful finish that enhances wood’s natural beauty. Does not peel, crack or blister, and it is highly elastic. It contains UV filters for effective protection from exposure to the sun UV rays. It is water repellent, offers effective protection from all weather conditions and enhances the wood’s natural beauty. The final finish is water repellent and highly resistant to ageing, scratching and frequent cleaning. The addition of hardener improves resistance to mechanical stress and chemicals and reduces curing time. For interior & exterior use.

Instructions for use
Surface preparation
New wood: Light sanding to smooth surface if necessary. The substrate should be dry and free from dust, chalk, grease and any foreign material which would affect adhesion. Grease and resins should be removed with nitro solvent.
Previously painted wood surfaces: It is important to remove oldvarnishes with sanding or paint and varnish remover STRIPP N’ CLEAN. Follow with sanding. Remove dust and chalk.
Fungicide protection: Apply one or two coats of XYLOFARM PROTECT AQUA impregnation solution for protection against fungi, woodworm, insects and other wood-destroying organisms.
Undercoat: Apply one coat of PARQUET PRIMER AQUA or one coat of PARQUET VARNISH AQUA diluted with 30% of water. Allow drying thoroughly (2 – 4h). Allow drying thoroughly. For areas with high humidity as well as for softwoods it is advisable to apply two coats. Smooth surfaces with sandpaper No 150-180 and then with No 250-300.
Application
- If using as a two component add hardener to the varnish and mix thoroughly till a homogenous mixture is formed. Allow mixture to stand for 10 minutes and follow with application of first coat. The mixture must be used within 3-4 hours.
- If using as a one component mix material thoroughly for 2 minutes and apply first coat diluted 0 – 10% with clean water.
- When the first coat is completely dry (4 – 24 h), rub surface using a No 180 abrasive paper and apply a second coat diluted 0 – 10% with clean water.
- Although floors and decks may be walked upon the day following application the secret to obtaining a durable floor finish is to allow the coating to cure for 5 – 9 days before exposing it to heavy use.
- You must avoid applying the varnish in heavily – thick coats, since it will wear rapidly.
- For heavy traffic areas and maximum durability apply three coats using hardener.
Maintenance
Wash occasionally with a mild detergent and water, and rinse thoroughly. Recoat when deterioration is observed.
Important: Wood must be dry (12-14% internal moisture) Application Conditions: room & floor temperature +15oC to + 25oC, rel. humidity 40% - 70%
Remarks
