Instructions for use
Surface preparation
Careful surface preparation is very important for optimum finish and durability.
- The substrate should be dry and free from dust, chalk, grease, and any foreign material that may harmfully affect adhesion.
- Old, loose coatings, dirt, fats, oils, organic substances, and dust need to be removed by mechanical means such as a sanding machine or, where possible, with a high-pressure washing machine. Carefully remove dust after sanding.
- Light sanding of wood surfaces is necessary. Carefully remove dust. Internal moisture of wood must not exceed 12%-14%. Degrease oily wood with nitro solvent or acetone.
- New concrete floors need to dry for at least 28 days. Moisture must not exceed 5% and ambient humidity not over 70%.
- All substrates must be completely dry prior to application, and rain must be avoided for 48 hours.
- Minimum application temperature 10oC.
Priming
Unsound surfaces can be primed with same material diluted 20% with solvent DIL X - 100 for substrate strengthening.
Application
- Mix carefully the two components, taking care to ensure thorough mixing on the walls and the bottom of the pail.
- Allow the mixture to stand for 5 minutes.
- Apply the first coat with a roller, brush, or spray gun.
- Dilute 0-10% for roller or brush application and 10-20% for spray application.
- You must avoid applying the varnish in heavily thick coats, since it will not cure properly.
- The second coat may be applied when the first is thoroughly dry: 12h (35oC) – 24h (15oC) depending on ambient temperature.
- For maximum durability, apply a third coat.
- The final curing is achieved in 7 - 14 days.
Maintenance of surface: wash with a mild detergent and water, and rinse thoroughly.
REMARKS
- Application conditions: Substrate’s moisture: <4%, Surface’s and Ambient temperature: 12oC - 35oC, Relative Air Humidity: <70%.
- Freshly painted surface must be protected from excessive humidity and rain for 36 – 48 hours.
- 2K POLYURETHANE VARNISH contains solvents and during application, good ventilation of the space should be ensured.
- It is advisable to use protective clothing, gloves, hat, and mask with a filter suitable for solvents.
- If recoating is carried out after 36 hours, the surface must be sanded with coarse sandpaper and dust must be removed.
- Curing as well as pot life are affected by ambient temperature and humidity. Low temperatures and high humidity tend to increase pot life, while high temperatures and low humidity shorten the pot life.
- Before application, read carefully all instructions and information relevant to its safe and best use (Safety Data Sheet).
- The substrate must be at least 3oC above dew point to reduce the risk of condensation or blooming on the paint’s finish.
