Instructions for use
Surface preparation
- Surfaces should be clean and dry free from traces of wax, varnish, paint, stain or greasy substances. TEAK OIL AQUA cannot be applied on any other type of teak oil.
- If surface was previously sealed with a film forming finish such as varnish or enamel paint, the finish must be completely removed with paint stripper STRIPP N’ CLEAN.
- Sand the surface to bare, clean wood to open the grain and facilitate application.
- Clean dirty surfaces with TEAK CLEANER.
Application
- Shake well before and during application.
- Using a brush or clean cloth apply a thin coat of TEAK OIL AQUA in the direction of the grain.
- Allow to penetrate for 20 to 30 minutes. Apply a second coat as soon as the wood loses its “wet” appearance.
- For highly absorbent wood as well as in extreme conditions such as continuous exposure to sunlight or in wet areas, apply 3 - 4 coats.
- Allow to dry for 24 hours before using the treated wood.
Drying time: touch dry 2 - 4 hours depending on weather conditions. Allow at least 24 hours before heavy use. Avoid walking on decks until fully dry.
LEAD STATEMENT
WARNING: Treatment of old surfaces such as dry sanding, flame cutting and/or welding of the dry paint film will give rise to dust and/or hazardous fumes. Lead dust may be released. Lead is toxic. Exposure to lead dust can cause serious illness. Wet sanding/flatting should be used wherever possible. If exposure cannot be avoided by the provision of local exhaust ventilation, suitable respiratory protective equipment should be used.
REMARKS
- To obtain optimal penetration of TEAK OIL AQUA, ensure that the wood is dry (internal moisture up to 10%).
- There should be a minimum of three warm, dry days before application with no rain forecast within 24 hours after the second coat.
- Do not apply under full sun.
- Do not apply on any other oil or finish for exterior wood.
- Maintenance: once a year for the proper and long-term protection of wooden surfaces.
- Test on a sample surface before use.
