Description
ISOPHALT LATEX is waterbased bituminous emulsion based on a mixture of pure asphalt and fillers. It is odourless, non flammable and free from dangerous solvents. It is suitable for protection and waterproofing building surfaces. A continuous waterproof film is formed after water evaporation, with excellent adhesion properties to the substrate. The dried film is resistant to acid or alkali solutions.
ADVANTAGES
- Excellent adhesion on most building surfaces
- Excellent water/humidity resistance
- Excellent resistance to ageing
- User and environmentally friendly – free from organic solvents
- Easy to apply and work with.
APPLICATIONS
- Waterproofing of vertical or horizontal concrete surfaces such as terraces and slope roofs, foundations, interior and exterior walls, floors, retaining walls, basement walls etc and as vapour barrier.
- Can be mixed with sand and cement to create a plastoelastic mortar with excellent mechanical properties suitable for industrial floors, gyms etc.
- ISOPHALT LATEX is compatible with common building substrates such as concrete, plaster, masonry, brick, stones, metal, plasterboard etc.

Instructions for use
Surface Preparation
Surfaces should be levelled, dust free, grease free, clean from unstable and foreign materials.
ISOPHALT LATEX may be applied even on humid surfaces.
Application
ISOPHALT LATEX can be applied by brush or airless spray.
Vertical surfaces
Apply a first layer of ISOPHALT LATEX diluted 50% with clean water.
Apply the following layer of ISOPHALT LATEX diluted up to 25% with clean water.
Horizontal surfaces
Reinforcement can be provided using fibreglass embedded in between the 2 coats of ISOPHALT LATEX. The fabric should be applied into the first coat of ISOPHALT LATEX whilst it is wet, creating an ‘in situ’ bituminous membrane.
Dilute ISOPHALT LATEX following the instructions mentioned in the application for vertical surfaces.
ISOPHALT LATEX must not be applied when the temperature is below 5oC.
REMARKS
ISOPHALT LATEX must not be applied at temperatures below 0oC, under very hot weather conditions or when rain is expected. ISOPHALT LATEX is waterproof when completely dry. In order to accelerate drying time the use of 2-3% of cement is recommended.
